The incident happened at the Washington Hilton, where several senior government officials were present, including vice president JD Vance and members of the president’s cabinet. Security agents from the United States Secret Service quickly escorted them out of the hall as a precaution.

According to sources cited by CNN, both President Trump, and Vice President Vance are safe,and no injuries among senior officials have been reported. But unfortunately, one Secret Service was struck but is expected to recover. http://google.com

Witnesses described a chaotic scene as Secret Service agents shouted “shot fired” andimmediately drew their weapons after loud bangs were heard. Many attendees reportedly took cover under tables while security personnel moved swiftly to secure the area.

Authorities later confirmed that one suspect has been taken into custody. In a post on X, officials states that the situation has been contained.  

Presidential also addressed the incident on Truth Social, confirming that a suspected shooter had been apprehended and praising law enforcement for their quick response. He added that he was returning to the White House and is expected to deliver a press briefing soon. Veteran journalist Wolf Blitzer, who was present at the event, reported that he was only a few feet away from the suspected gunman when the incident occurred. He described the weapon has “very serious” and the situation as extremely dangerous.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
