v1. Believing Every thought that Enters your Mind. When you are depressed, the mind can trick you into believing things that are not true. But remember, just because you think it, doesn’t mean it’s true. Feelings are not facts.
2. Self Medication. People suffering from major depressive disorder can get the urge to self google.com. It is understood that the world can be a dark and lonely place and your reality has become so unbearable that drinking alcohol and taking recreational drugs can be forms of escapism. However, the relief is only temporary and the harmful effects on both your physical and mental health can be long lasting and severe.
3. Sleep Excessively. People suffering from major depressive disorder can sleep excessively which leads to a symptom of a condition called Hypersomnia. However, sleeping excessively can make one feel even worse. If anything, you are encouraged to engage in physical activities. Start by getting out of bed.
4. Don’t Punish Yourself. People experiencing major excessive disorder feel they are not worthy of kindness and compassion and treatment. So they turn to deny themselves of that treatment Don’t punish yourself, rather, show yourself the same kindness you show to your loved ones.
5. Isolation. Do not Isolate yourself. Don’t be alone with these negative automatic thoughts in your mind. Socialize with others, go to community centers, if you are spiritual, go to your local church, synagogue, temple or mosque. Also visit the library, go to the café or park.
For it is better to be surrounded by people than to be by yourself with these negative and nihilistic thoughts in your mind.
